  • In the heart of UNESCO World Heritage Site Mana Pools, Zimbabwe, Mhara River Bush Camp is surrounded by the wild and untouched Zambezi Escarpment. Both private and sucluded, the surrounding bush is natural and untouched.

Birds sing their early morning songs, and leopards, lions and resident bull elephants occasionally enjoy a drink of cool, clean water from the many bird baths in camp.

The permanent camp consists of just 6 semi-luxury en-suite tents, and a beautiful open deck with stunning views of the river bed, where we will enjoy our daily yoga.

This is the most wild place you will ever go. There is nowhere else on Earth like Mhara River Bush Camp.

FAQs

Is it safe to travel to Zimbabwe?

Absolutely! Zimbabwe is the most beautiful country, and thanks to a lot of bad press the wilderness remains relatively untouched.

Malaria

There is seasonal malaria in Mana Pools and we recommend that all guests obtain professional medical advice regarding malarial prophylaxis before travelling. I personally haven’t taken anything for malaria in a decade, and we recently took our 6 month old to Mhara at the same time as our retreat will be and we didn’t get bitten by a mozzie, let alone worry about malaria. We advise using insect repellant in the evenings, and wearing long sleeves also reduces the chances of being bitten by mosquitos.

Mhara regularly spray their tents against mosquitos and other insects, and all of the rooms are fitted with mosquito nets.

How Many People Will There Be?

This retreat is limited to maximum 10 people.

Can I come alone?

Yes! The Yoga Safari is the perfect holiday for solo travel. You will have all the time in the world to unwind and relax, and also have the opportunity to make new lifelong friends.

If you would prefer a room to yourself that’s absolutely fine, but if not I’ll pair you with someone suitable who I think you’ll get along with.

Camp Safety

Please be aware that this Yoga Safari is situated in the middle of the African Bush. There may be wild animals walking through camp, but all staff are trained thoroughly in what to do in such situations, and you will be briefed yourself on arrival. All guests are walked back to their tents with by a guide at night for optimum safety.

Weather

Zimbabwe boasts 300 days of sunshine a year! However the end of May is coming into winter, so you might like to bring a jumper for mornings and evenings. Expect highs of 28 and lows of 10 degrees. Perfect yoga weather!

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for the retreat and you will be asked to share details ahead of the start.

If you do not produce the necessary information your place may be cancelled and no refund given.

You are responsible for arranging full travel insurance which should cover you for the activities you plan to undertake and have adequate cover for travel delay, cancellation and curtailment, medical expenses and your personal belongings.
